—The Forgotten Spartans Part 1 Opening Description

The Forgotten Spartans is a machinima created by Darknal. Initially posted in December 2007 on Darknal's channel, later moved over to the Machinima.com channel in July 2008.

The series is an alternate history set within the same timeline as Halo where another ring is discovered during the events of Halo 3. After abandoning the soldiers on the ring, the UNSC fled back to Earth leaving behind material and ordnance. The series follows the three Protagonist's; Darknal, Conan and Cosmic of Spartan Squad Omega as they attempt to flee the ring.

Plot

Part 1

Part 1

The three main protagonists

The tale begins as the three Spartans move across a Forerunner Complex (Isolation), they communicate with one and another, discussing whom should go down the hole first; Conan leads and Darknal and Cosmic follow. They drop down the Porter and find a group of Elites standing guard, they immediately crouch to avoid being spotted and begin to walk towards them in an attempt to assassinate the two. However doing so, an Elite minor notices Omega and threatens the squad after having Conan at gunpoint, after a quick stand off Darknal asks a familiar question to his squad member which results in their victory. After they narrowly triumph, the Spartans continue to move on.

Cosmic and Darknal

Darknal and Cosmic discussing their time on the Ring

They arrive at another Forerunner facility (Epitaph) and after a successful ambush they continue on their journey.Their hopes of finding a way to escape the ring are rewarded as they soon later find a Warthog at at a Forerunner Ruin (Sandtrap). They occupy the vehicle and a brief chase ensues with another group of Elites in Choppers, until eventually a gravity hammer-wielding Elite minor sends them flying into a side of the relic site, destroying their only means of transport. With quick thinking from Darknal, the group quickly escape down a hole and manage to kill their attackers with a plasma grenade and two trip mines.

The final scene shows the three dropping down on the last Forerunner location (Construct) in this episode, Conan goes to find an exit while Darknal and Cosmic talk about their time on the Ring. Cosmic asks whether or not if they will ever depart from the Installation, with Darknal replying that he has belief that they will, but sounds unsure of himself. Conan soon returns and mentions he's found a possible exit. Darknal follows, while Cosmic looks at the scenery briefly before heading off to follow them.

Part 2

Part 2

An abandoned UNSC human base

Conan, Darknal, and Cosmic arrive on a Forerunner outpost bridge; unsurprisingly, the Elites are there as well. Omega distract them while Darknal goes under, Conan and Cosmic engage in a vicious firefight and provide a distraction. Eventually the two run out of ammo and are forced to take cover, Darknal emerges from behind and kills a couple Elites with his shotgun where as the straggler is then killed by Conan. Coincidently, Cosmic notices the Covenant Ghosts just before they are destroyed by the retreating Elites. The Spartans continue onwards, knowing they are heading in the right direction.

The three later arrive at a an abandoned UNSC camp. They equip themselves with ammo and equipment before, yet again, more Elites show up. Cosmic and Conan check the Warthog, while Darknal prepares another distraction by sneaking through the pipes and taking out an Elite with his shotgun. Knowing that he gave the signal, the others move forward, splattering an Elite and destroying the Ghost with a rocket launcher. They surround the sole survivor and ask for some information, the Elite reveals there are other Spartans attempting to escape, but so far have failed. He claims the three of them will be tortured, but Conan burns him alive with a Flamethrower. After Conan incinerates the Elite, Cosmic questions what he did was harsh however Darknal states that they would go through much worse if ever captured. The three then drive down the beach, discovering that there is nothing but sea for miles. Darknal noted that there was a bunker back where they came from and imagines that it must lead somewhere, unfortunately Cosmic realises that it is blocked. Conan suggests removing the blockade by driving the Warthog into the barricades and knocking them over, to much success it works and they exit the vehicle and enter the bunker and through the tunnels.

Omega arrive at Valhalla and find that other Spartans have too been left behind, they appear to be at a stand off as pointed out by Conan; the Spartans wielding gravity hammers while Elites holding Energy Swords. Conan gives his hammer to Cosmic whom joins the Spartans in the charge against their enemy, the message "To Be Continued..." appears on the screen.

Part 3

Part 3a

The standoff

The video goes back to the arrival at Valhalla, where the three talk and conclude that the Elites have occupied the base camp and that the Hornet was here all along. Darknal however dismisses it as irrelevant, saying that an answer to why they were left on the ring is more important. The sequence returns to the stand off and the charge; one Spartan is killed by an energy sword, but the Elites are all killed by the hammers. Overconfident about his victory, Cosmic keeps charging, while the rest fall back. When Cosmic reaches the hill, he notices hundreds of Covenant vehicles and Elites await him on the other side of Valhalla. He manages to warn them about the trap before a spike grenade detonates next to him, seemingly killing him. After the loss of his fellow squad member, Darknal prepares to take charge of the Spartans and orders them to defend the base.

The first wave charges over the hill and open up with a vicious wave of firepower. However, the majority of shots fail to reach them and no casualties are taken from the Spartans, while the first wave is massacred by the turrets. The second wave consisting of Ghosts and infantry head over the hill. Darknal tactically orders his fellow Spartans to equip rockets while riding the Mongoose transports, the plan works and the Spartans again, take no casualties. Knowing the third wave will be too much for them on the mongooses, Darknal and the others fall back to take the Warthogs; one driving and one in the turret. The Elites, seeming desperate converge on the Spartans position only to be halted in their path by the anti-air machine gun turrets, although they manage to destroy one Warthog in the process. The four survivors get to the hill and disembark, but disaster strikes. The Wraiths bombard the hill and kill two of the Spartans, the only survivors being Darknal and Conan. Taking the opportunity, the Elites advance and Darknal attempts to fall back. Doing so left him wide open to attack by two Brute Choppers whom splattered him. During his seemingly final moments however, he takes out his attackers with a single trip mine. It is later revealed he is knocked out, but his armour is damaged and he is forced to swap his helmet for a downgrade to a Mark V.

Part 3

Cosmic (left) joins the Spartans in the charge against the Elites

Conan briefly mourns his leaders loss, before advancing with a missile pod and destroying the Wraiths. He then switches to a ripped-off turret and mows down what seems to be the final wave. After holding a formidable and heroic stand against his attackers, Conan then finds the Hornet and takes to the air but is met by more opposing Elites exiting the structure. He uses the machine-guns on the Hornet and kills most of them, but two Elites with missile pods attack him, he escapes quickly seconds before the hornet's destruction.

Conan's final moments

Conan's final moments

A group of eight Elites surround and stand in front of him, Conan making no attempt to fend off and escape the enemy simply tells them "Other Spartans will come, and end this war." The Elites showing no remorse or mercy, stick him plasma grenades, seemingly ending his life.

This Part was the only one in the whole movie not to have the 'To be continued...' ending as it was deemed to be the last one to be made by Darknal, however popular demand has led it be further expanded to more than 10 parts as a whole, a related side-story created by one of his body actors titled 'Spartan Squad Alpha' and a planned new addition to 'The Forgotten Spartans Universe'.

Part 4

Part 4

Elite assassins assaulting the Rat's Nest Base

A brief, soundless clip shows the three main protagonists training in a Spartan facility (The Pit) . It ends to show the three being promoted- Cosmic to Captain, Conan to Colonel and Darknal to Brigadier. The group then head to Rat's Nest to meet the Commander and their new squad member, Dolphinie. As the group talk, Darknal and the Commander discuss their mission alone. It is revealed that the Elites on Earth have joined with the UNSC to eliminate the Flood and the Covenant and Master Chief is on a secret mission. However, the Elites on this ring still need to be defeated.

Meanwhile, the non-combat Spartans are busy discussing Conan and when their training starts. Two stealth Elites ambush them and stab them in the back. The Warthogs are then destroyed and another non-combat Spartan is killed. The two reactivate their camo and attempt to flee, with Dolphinie in pursuit. Dolphinie climbs onto the pipeline and manages to snipe one of the Elites by spotting a movement of the objects surrounding him. The second Elite is also on the pipeline and almost kills Dolphinie. The two briefly exchange dialogue and charge at each other. Dolphinie snipes the Elite in mid-jump with no scope. Darknal, Cosmic and Conan arrive, amazed. The group then head off for their next destination, Standoff.

Part 5

Part 5

Spartans Darknal Give Some Orders to Cosmic,Conan and Dolphinies

The Spartans quickly arrive and get inside the red bunker. Dolphinie waits outside. Cosmic kills two Elites and Darknal kills two as well, attempting to order the sole survivor around before a Major Elite arrives and holds Darknal and Cosmic prisoner. Darknal opens the bunker, allowing Conan in. Before Darknal and Cosmic can be killed, Conan storms in with a detached plasma turret and kills two Elites, allowing Cosmic and Darknal to kill their captors.

The Major attempts to leave, but Dolphinie snipes him in his vehicle. Another Elite orders an attack on the base. The group manage to hold off the Elites for a while, but Dolphinie stays still while providing sniper support. A sniper Elite kills her with a shot to the head, draining her shields and killing her. The Spartans are forced back.

Part 5a

Spartan Squad Omega defending the Communications Outpost at Standoff

A Major orders the Elites to storm the bunker, but the other Spartans have filled it with fusion coils and a well-placed grenade kills all inside. The group check on Dolphinie, confirming she is dead before driving on to the other base. On their way, it turns out the sniper Elite did not storm the bunker. He takes off in a Banshee and flips the warthog over. The Elite manages to hide by apparently going over the cliff, but Conan hijacks the ship and the Elite is kicked out on the land. Conan gets out and comes under fire, but the Elite does not have good aim at close range and misses twice. The Elite is finished off by a Warthog being hammered into it.

Part 5b

Two White Spartans observing the status of the unconscious Cosmic

Darknal activates the bunker to find that Spartans are heading to Valhalla to evacuate. The group drive there, but are too late- an Elite attack has already taken place. The group load up on supplies and move round, going through places such as Guardian, before ending up on Isolation at the events at Episode 1. The events then fast-forward to Conan being stuck by at least seven plasma grenades.

A week after the Battle for Valhalla, two Spartans land and confirm Cosmic is alive. One guards the prone form of Cosmic, while the other looks for Conan and Darknal.

Part 6

Part 6

White Spartans on the Sea Wall defending their position from waves of Elites

The episode was originally meant for Christmas, but a busy Christmas season and personal life means Darknal was unable to complete Part 6 in time.

The episode begins with Cosmic awake and standing. He walks over to the unconscious form of Darknal. The camera then panes to two, white Spartans saying that Cosmic is alive, but they have had to change Darknal's helmet to Mark V, as well as announcing that Conan is MIA.

It is said that Cosmic and Darknal were moved to Avalanche. Once Darknal had awoken, he had went out to look for Conan, against everyone's will. Cosmic catches up with him and get into an argument about what happened to Conan. As they finish, they turn to see a squad of Elites. The cavalry comes in, and they are repelled. Stormray, whose rank is so far unsaid, begins explaining to Darknal that his team was also left on the ring and have been looking for them for the last few months. He then pulls Darknal aside to discuss their situation.

Part 6a

Elites assaulting the Sea Wall

Another base much like Avalanche is shown, which is Last Resort, with a Covenant armed force on the way. The Spartans prep themselves, grabbing the necessary weapons and ammo as well as 4 Warthogs to repel the invasion. They suit up and make their way to the beach wall and mount up against the enemy. Two Gauss Warthogs protect the main entrance to the base and other Spartans position themselves on top of the wall with rockets, battle rifles and snipers. On the other side of the wall, the commanding officer, Feonaro watches over the wall with the rest of the Spartans who take advantage of the turrets positioned along the wall. Soon afterwards, silence occurs and the Spartans look around for the enemy only to find their is none. An elite commander fires a shot from his beam rifle at one of the Spartans and orders the rest of them to "Head for the sea wall" as they appear from their camouflage, proceeding to the beach from the sea on foot. Feonaro immediately shouts "Spartans, ENGAGE!" and so a heavy fight occurs. The elites get pinned down by the turrets and attempt to put to use their deployable cover to hold out against the Spartans constant fire. On the other side of the sea wall, more Elites attack the Spartans put are stopped as the Gauss Warthogs and soldiers hold the line. Feonaro stresses to his fellow Spartans to "Mark your fucking targets!".

Part 6b

Warthogs controlling the Elites push onto the Beach Head

The Elites eventually begin to fight back as they throw plasma grenades, destroying the Gauss Warthogs and killing a soldier with an excellent throw from one of the Elites. The Elites bring in Ghosts outside of the entrance but are destroyed by a Spartan wielding a rocket launcher. Fearing that they will fail the assault on the sea wall, the Elites make a desperate attempt to flank the Spartans by climbing part of the sea wall separating the two sides of the beach. They are spotted by Feonaro and he shouts "They're above us!", the Spartans on the turrets take them out before the Elites could take out one of the soldiers. The Elites begin the final wave and make an impressive stretch to the enemy, but only makes it to the sea wall who attempts to take out Feonaro who quickly makes short work of him, who immediately says afterwards "F*ck off!" to the dead Elite. Once the heat dies down, they receive word that the Spartans were found and they decide to pack up and return to Avalanche, Feonaro states "Our mission here is done, get everyone to leave A.S.A.P".

It then goes back to Stormray and Darknal discussing how they were left and why the Covenant were trying to hold the humans back. Darknal asks how they intend to fight the growing army of Elites, to which Stormray responds by saying "The Elites are not the only ones with an army." To which the camera zooms out to show just how they intend to do just that.

Part 7

Part 7

Elites onlooking the Spartan forces on Avalanche

The episode begins on an Elite factory (Assembly) as a pair of Elites discuss how the ringworld "Halo" is a danger to the Elites homeworld and the order to destroy all of the Spartans on Avalanche is given. Although there were plans to negotiate the Spartans to leave the ringworld and not destroy it, those plans was cancelled because if the Spartans knew what the Elites were hiding, they wouldn't be in room for negotiation. Meanwhile, Darknal and Cosmic finds from Stormray that they have finally decoded the Spartan evacuation message and discover that Halo, 6 months ago headed for a portal of some type and the majority of the UNSC forces evacuated immediately. It is also learned that the ringworld was heading towards the Elite homeworld, which explains the rapid and ever-continuing growth of Elite numbers. Meanwhile, a White Spartan soldier reports in, in the interior of the Avalanche base (Orbital), that the Elites have begun moving out to attack the base on Avalanche.

Part 7b

Elite Armed forces preparing for battle

Soon the two massive armies of Elites and Spartans meet in a standoff. The battle begins as the first wave of Elites armed with Energy Swords confront the frontline Spartans wielding Gravity Hammers. Then, Elites wielding range weapons like Needlers and Spikers form the back of the first wave. Spartans armed with Rifles, SMGs and Pistols deal with them, and Warthogs soon follow out, taking out masses of Elites. However, the Elites used a couple of Wraiths to counter them, and the power of each Plasma Mortar kills the Warthog drivers and gunners, but however it sends the Warthogs flying back into the air, and landing on the ground splattering the charging Spartans.

Meanwhile in outer space, the missing end of UNSC Forward Unto Dawn orbits around the Elites' homeworld and heads toward the Halo ringworld. Inside the Avalanche base, it is detected by Stormray, but he chose to ignore it due to the fact they can't tell if there's lifeforms on-board. As the casualties of the Spartans begin to increase, Stormray orders Spartans inside the base to be armed with Rocket Launchers, get into the battlefront and destroy as much as they can.

Part 7f

Spartan Fire rocket at the elite banshees

The second wave of Elites arrives and the current frontline Spartans are ordered to hold their positions, which soon fails as they come under heavy fire from Elite Infantry units and the Wraiths' Plasma Mortars, and suffer heavy casualties. However, the Rocket Launcher-armed Spartans are ready, where they assemble on the top of the base and soon fire dozens of Rockets into the battlefield, killing tons of Elites in the process. However, in order not to take too much losses, the Elites counter the Rockets back with Banshees. Although the Banshees get destroyed by the Rockets, they eventually have some success in taking out several Rocket Launcher-armed Spartans, and more Banshees are still to come.

Part 7g

Master Chief's Appearance

Discovering the incoming Wraiths, Stormray, Cosmic and Darknal head out to stop them only to find that majority of their forces are gone, and most of the remaining Spartans retreat and find for cover. A few Spartans were brave enough to pilot Warthogs and a Scorpion to take the Wraiths out, although one of the Wraiths was destroyed, the vehicles were eventually destroyed. When all hope seems lost, and the Elites seem to be winning, Darknal, who took cover behind a burning Warthog looks up to see a Spartan in green armor (Master Chief) in front of him, and the then says "Looks like you need a hand". Darknal, confused about who the Spartan really is, does not reply but instead sees the Spartan heading out to the battlefield. The other remaining White Spartans make a last effort to stop the incoming Elite army from reaching the Avalanche base, and the Master Chief reinforces them, taking out a few Elites along the way, a couple of Banshees, and ultimately hijacking and destroying the second and last Wraith besieging the base, with the help of a Bubble Shield. Following the slow-motion explosion of the Wraith, the ending ends with a "To be continued".

Part 8

The opening text shows the remaining spartans searching for any survivors of the previous battle. The episode begins with Darknal, Cosmic, and Stormray talking about where Chief came from. With the help of Cortana, they find out that Chief destroyed the last ring. Puzzled, Cortana looks into the ring's control system and tries to find out where the current ring came from. Meanwhile, a small squad of ODST's, lead by Kootra, are given orders to return the Avalanche base. However, Elites are given orders to prevent this, and set up an ambush. Kootra figures this out, and the squad engages in battle with the ambush force.

Part 8a

Kootra's ODST Squad

Back at Avalanche, Chief asks Darknal "Where's my brother?" Cosmic questions this, and Stormray tells him that no Spartan "officially" has a relation. Since Darknal and Cosmic were unconscious at the time, they don't know what happened to Conan. Cortana then tries to hack into the Elites' computer system, so he can find out what happened to Conan on Valhalla.

Kootra's forces are depleting, and orders reinforcements. Kootra goes to the top level and kills two Elites, and is saved by Feonaro. The two Spartans soon kill the remaining elites, and prepare to return to Avalanche.

Cortana finds the footage on what happened on Valhalla, and displays it to the four Spartans. They soon see Conan disappear in the plasma explosions, and are saddened by the news. Cosmic, enraged, swears and leaves the base, standing beside a Hornet, and thinking of what Conan would say if he were still alive.

Part 8

Spartan line up to defense the base

The Elites launch another attack, much larger than before, backed up by Wraiths, Banshees, Ghosts, and Choppers, outnumbering and outgunning the humans. The depleted Spartan group, armed with their remaining ordnance, watches, helpless as the Elites slowly move toward their barriers. Stormray, Darknal, and Chief observe from the command center, and note that there is far too many for all their forces to survive. As the Covenant troops prepare to attack, large groups of ODSTs and Spartans, commanded by Kootra, Feonaro, and Tamerlane, arrive, trapping the Elites. The battle begins as one group of Elites attacks the rear group of Spartans and another attacks the original group.

The fight rages on Avalanche, most of the Spartans fight on the ground, while Hornet fighters with Rocket Spartan passengers provide artillery support on Banshees and tanks. Both sides fight hard for an advantage, neither side benefiting. Many Hornets are shot down, taking the Rocket-armed troops down with them, but the human forces fight back, knocking out almost all of the Banshees. Feonaro is almost killed, but saved by Kootra.

The Spartans unlock spare ordnance compartments, equipping themselves for the next wave. Stormray, Darknal, and Chief join the fight and the humans finally turn the tables of the battle.

Part 9

This part was released in two seperate episodes, lablled Part 9a and 9b on September 6, 2010. The movie begins with Cosmic returning to Valhalla via Hornet flight, and landing on the far side of the canyon. In the rainstorm, he approaches, and observes the Elite base, awaiting his revenge. At Avalanche, the battle rages on.

TFS Cosmic explode 9a

Cosmic Explosion

An ODST sniper, Mitch, observes the battle, apparently being temporarily blinded. He and another trooper team up with a desperate group of human troopers, and a few Elites come around and execute some of the soldiers, but Mitch is saved by Darknal's group, which comes over the hill firing on the advancing Elite battalions. Darknal observes Master Chief's group moving up by the bridge and secondary base, while Stormray fires at Covenant heavy positions with a laser. The battle is a stalemate, with neither side gaining an advantage. Stormray briefs Mitch on the current situation, but the tide turns, as Covenant ships arrive in the ring's atmosphere. The Elite commander orders a retreat.

Librius orders reinforcements to arrive at avalanche to crush the remaining Spartans before speaking with the hierarchs. The action then jumps to an overcast Valhalla, where Cosmic takes out the entire Covenant base as a result of his anger of Conan's death. Cosmic interrogates the Elite captain about Conan's body and its whereabouts. Cosmic doesn't get what he needs from the Elite so carries out his threat of killing him.

TFS Overlay 2 9b

Elites Prepare

Part 9b starts with the Elite reinforcements arriving. They send phantoms down to drop off more Elites and they all walk into their position ready for battle. The Spartans are being inspired by Tamerlane as the ODST's prepare for their biggest battle. The Elite army is huge and they bombard Wraith bombs down on the humans. Two Hornets use large missiles to blow up the Elites front lines. The humans then send in Warthogs to keep the front line from breaking but it's too late. The Elites swarm in taking out all humans in their path. Darknal, Stormray and Tamerlane take turns in battling the oncoming Elites, using their skills and awesomeness to take out large groups. The Elites become too much for them so retreat and take cover whilst they decide what to do. Tamerlane makes a bold move to get the Spartans to the shield door and to take cover. The Spartans are unaware that Tamerlane is carrying an old Spartan suit that has a self destruct mechanism, that he uses to wipe out the remaining army whilst the other Spartans narrowly make it through the door. (This was a nod to the Halo Legends animations that were released earlier that year).

TFS Overlay 9b

Elites swarm

The Spartans make their way to the main room uncontended but soon realise they are not alone as Librius and his honour guards march in to decide their fate. Librius runs off whilst Darknal follows and the honour guards go to kill the other Spartans. The battle is short and sees the Spartans lose Feonaro, who is killed by one of the honour guards in their battle. Darknal is attacked by Librius in another room but Cosmic arrives to save the day. Librius is forced to help the Spartans and explains their secret. Librius explains how they have been trying to contain the Flood, but it has failed, the flood is loose somewhere on the ring.

TFS Cosmic Save 9b

Cosmic saves the day

Rasak comes in to tell Librius there is someone approaching the base but the snow storm outside is making it difficult to see. All the Spartans and Librius go out to see what is going on, to be shocked and suprised that Conan has returned carrying his beloved turret and brute shot. This is short lived as he walks closer towards them, he stops and screaches at the top of his voice as though he is infected by the flood itself, equiping an energy sword at the last second to confirm this suspicion. As the twist reaches its conclusion that Conan is actually infected the episode ends.

Part 10

TFS Zenith 10a

Zenith over Earth

The episode begins where the last one took off. Conan immediately runs towards the Spartans looking down on him. Cosmic is stunned looking upon his newly infected friend. Stomray orders Mitch to shoot Conan but most shots are missed. Those that connect did no damage. As Conan approaches he hits a brute chopper towards the base in rage and continues pursuing the Spartans. As a result of this the Spartans decide to fire upon Conan knowing he won’t stop. Master Chief orders Mitch to give him the sniper rifle so he can take the shot himself. Conan jumps towards the Spartans but Chief puts a bullet in his head. Conan falls to the ground when the Spartans go to finish the job. Just before Chief fires again, Cosmic stands in the way telling the Chief that he’s already dead and there is no need for another shot. The Spartans go into cold storage where Cortana explains what needs to happen. She tells the Spartans that one group must get supplies and meet the other Spartans at the Relic once the index is activated. Stormray agrees to be the one to stay behind and sacrifice himself for the rest of the Galaxy. He must jump from 10,000 feet at the time Cortana over charges the cores in a hole to set off a plasma charged explosive that will make the cores implode and cause the ring to collapse. The index will send out a signal big enough for the UNSC to find them so Kootra, Mitch and Cosmic head out for supplies and Darknal, Stormray and the Chief activate the index with Cortana.

The Elite Captain hints that Librius will do the right thing working for the Spartans. He also stops all pursues of the Spartans and to concentrate on defending the core. Cortana activates the index and you see how the electrical signal is sent to Zenith, a UNSC battle ship. The General orders to slip space to the location of the lost ring where they are met by an awaiting covenant space force. They battle it out as Zenith sends a frigate down to investigate.

TFS Mothership 10a

Attack on Elite ships

Meanwhile Cosmic, Mitch and Kootra turn up at Longshore to pick up supplies. They are met by a wave of infected Spartans and Marines. Kootra manages to hold the swarms off whilst Mitch saves Cosmic who is trapped by a locked fence. Once Mitch opens the fence, Cosmic runs past the bridge shooting the fusion cores to kill the chasing Flood. Everything is secure until Conan turns up behind Kootra, with giant tentacles that he uses to splatter Kootra out of existence. Cosmic equips a flame throwing and knows he must destroy his friend. He jumps into the air down to Conan’s level where he sets him on fire. Cosmic runs behind a wall where he dares to look at his burning friend die.

TFS Kootra 10a

Kootra's Death

The Covenant attack one of the Frigates in space and send in Air assault Elites to penetrate the hull of the ship. The Elites end up taking over this ship.  Part 10b starts in Sandtrap where Darknal, Stormray, Chief and Librius turn up to take out the Relic. They are chased by some banshees and a small battle takes place to get into the relic but the Elite Captain orders the area to be glassed to stop the Spartans. However, the Spartans manage to seal the door before the area is glassed so the Elites end up glassing themselves. Inside the relic base Cosmic turns up with Mitch and explains Kootra didn’t make it. Darknal orders everyone to check and secure the area. Once Darknal is alone, Librius walks up behind Darknal and equips his sword. Darknal turns and shoots but it’s too late. They end up hitting each other. Librius is killed instantly whilst Darknal survives long enough to speak to Cosmic before he dies. They both utter the words “We fight together, we die together” as Darknal dies.

TFS Floodb 10b

Core attacked by Flood

The Spartans make their way to Valhalla where they are met by Pelicans sent down by the General of Zenith. Cosmic goes with Stormray to the cores whilst Chief and Mitch go back to the main ship. The frigate is left to follow Stormrays and Comsics Pelican so that Cosmic can return to Zenith once Stormray has made the jump. The Pelican is flying over the cores ready for action as the Elites defending the area hold off the swarms of flood attacking them on the surface. Stormray makes his final speech before realising Cosmic has made the jump instead. Cosmic, losing his friends on the ring would rather be the one to do the sacrificing, rather than be without his squad. Cosmic during mid flight has flash backs of his time with his squad before equipping the plasma grenade to destroy the cores. The pelican with Stormray, flies back to the frigate where it meets up with the Zenith ship.

TFS Ring 10

Ring Exploding

Master Chief and Stormray prepare the portals between the ring and the Elites planet so the planet isn’t destroyed in the rings blast. The Zenith General asks why they are saving the Elite planet and Stormray explains it was the last wish of Squad Omega. The ring explodes and bits of the blast and ring itself go through the portal missing the planet and safely out the other portal into space. The screen fades out where it shows you the main characters and their actors before the credits start to roll.

Conan is a Spartan Colonel and one of the three main protagonists in 'The Forgotten Spartans', his voice is of a deep American accent which may suggest he was born on Earth or Harvest. He is often the most heroic, jumping off a cliff to hijack a Banshee and advancing against a wave of Elites when he is the only one believed to be alive. However, he seems to be the most unfeeling, claiming that Darknal did not fail as a Spartan by letting Dolphinie die, but she failed herself. He is compared with Master Chief due to his die hard attitude and his trigger happy senses, however this is not by coincidence as it is confirmed in Part 8 that the two are brothers. He returns at the very end of part 9, as the grenades from Part 3 did not kill him, and many assumed he was dead, it can only be assumed he has been infected by The Flood as it was revealed Librius was tasked with keeping the parasite at bay.

Reception

'The Forgotten Spartans' has received widespread praise for its excellent action footage, particularly the moment in Episode 5 when Conan jumped off the cliff to board the Banshee. The vehicle chase scenes in the earlier episodes were also highly praised. Some fans have even commented that the series is superior to DigitalPh33r's machinima projects. The high quality of voice acting, sound placement and camera angling also captivated many people. The few 'epic battles' involving the three Spartans and seemingly limitless Elites added to the series' success. Because of this, Machinima has given it a playlist link on their YouTube page and is now classed as it's own show.

While the series features superb action sequences and combat choreography, it has also been said that 'The Forgotten Spartans' does not exhibit top-notch dialouge.  While some fans find it worthy to point it out, others see this as a minor flaw, easily overshadowed by the machinima's action and camera work.

Chris Thake was also asked to appear on Live with Cpt Jack Hammer, to talk about his production, and why it takes time to create each part for the movie.

Darknal had special guest cameo as himself in Rise of the Spartans Part 6. Having him appear as a graduated Gold Spartan, probably before the mission when he, Cosmic, and Conan went to Halo.

Quotes

"If they move, I'll burn them."

Conan stating his intent before they drop into the hole.

"It's like never ending!"

Cosmic commenting on their continuous attempts to find a way off the ring; from one problem to another.

"What's the signal?"

"You'll know the signal."

Darknal to Cosmic, after the latter questions when to make a move on the Elites.

"Other Spartans will come and end this war"

Conan's last words before his death.

"We face, annihilation. But more than just our flesh and bone will die today. Against a sea of enemies we seem demoralized; beaten. But this war will not be decided by numbers. The Elites claim to have honor, but they hinder our destruction which is damned weak and attack us in such cowardice force. If we fail, the Galaxy dies with us. So, here on in we are all Spartan warriors and will fight like demons! Harden your hearts and think of the carnage to come. Forgotten now but remembered, forever!"

Tamerlane to the UNSC forces prior to the fourth and final wave at the Battle of Avalanche.
